As it runs through the heart of Northern Virginia, many local businesses profit by close proximity to the W&OD. Rather than post a static map detailing the ever changing commercial landscape bordering the trail, we invite trail users to employ the many search engines on the internet. We include these links for your perusal, but neither the Friends or NOVA Parks endorse any information contained in them.
In 2022 a group of Google employees volunteered to map the trail with a “street view” camera. If you use the street view feature on Google Maps, you can see most of the trail as it looked that day. If the user name shows “Darren O’Connor”, that’s the one created by these amazing volunteers.
There are benches, shelters, water fountains, bike tools, and portable toilets on the trail. If you see any of these amenities in need of service, please contact WOD@nvrpa.org
